Slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and totally delicious, these Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy BBQ Wings are the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer for the Big Game!
It’s almost here, my friends. The anticipation and the excitement are building. Are you ready for the Big Game? The best day of the year to watch football. For my family, it’s a huge deal. On that day, we sit, glued to the television, tension rising with every play.
But let’s be real. We all know that football parties aren’t just about the games. At every party, a perfect spread of tantalizing finger foods is a must. Even more important? Creating appetizers that are yummy to eat AND easy to prepare so you can have a hassle-free day. Are you ready? Because it’s game ON!
First of all, I think we can all agree that nothing says perfect football party food more than chicken wings. And my favorite wings are my crowd-pleasing Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy BBQ Wings. They’re tender chicken wings, cooked to perfection and slathered with a sweet and spicy homemade BBQ sauce. They’re so delicious, napkins are optional. Because your guests will be licking their fingers clean! Best part? You can throw them in the slow cooker, set ’em, and forget ’em until your guests arrive, giving you plenty of time to prepare for your gathering.
These Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy BBQ Wings are so easy to make, and the incredible BBQ sauce truly takes them to star player status. For these, I use French’s Ketchup as a base. What’s great about French’s Ketchup is that it doesn’t have all the fake stuff, like GMOs, high fructose syrup, preservatives, or artificial flavors or colors. It’s the real deal, friends. And with ingredients like real sugar and high-quality tomatoes, you can rest assured that what you’re feeding your friends and family is not only delicious, but is better for them.
I found French’s Ketchup, as well as the other ingredients for the wings, at my neighborhood Walmart. I easily located the ketchup in the condiments aisle.
With only a handful of ingredients, these Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy BBQ Wings are a cinch to whip up. You can even use French’s Classic Yellow Mustard for your mustard.
First, sprinkle the wings generously with salt and pepper and place them on a cookie sheet. Yes, you do broil them first. Because that’s the only way to get the golden deliciousness that is an essential part of any good wing.
Broil them for 7 minutes per side. Meanwhile, mix your BBQ sauce ingredients together in your slow cooker.
Once the wings are golden, place them in the slow cooker with the sauce.
And mix them in so they’re all blanketed with the yummy sauce.
Cook them for 3 to 4 hours on low or 1-1/2 to 2 hours on high and then set your slow cooker to warm until your guests arrive. And voila! You’re ready for the Big Game! Best part? These Slow Cooker Sweet and Spicy Wings will make you feel like a winner—even if your team doesn’t win!
