Recipe type: Appetizer
Serves: 2 cups
Ingredients
  • 2 large onions, quartered and sliced thin
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 4 oz. jalapeño cream cheese
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (reserve a bit for garnish)
  • Sliced jalapeños, optional (for garnish and serving alongside)
  • Town House Pita Chips flavor of your choice, for serving
Instructions
  1. In a large fry pan over medium heat, melt butter with canola oil. Add onions, salt, and pepper and toss to coat. Saute for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Remove from heat and spread onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Cool completely (I put mine in the fridge for an hour).
  4. When cool, chop the onions into small pieces.
  5. In an electric mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Add the bacon and onions. Transfer to a bowl and top with remaining bacon bits and jalapeño slices. Serve with your favorite Town House Pita Chips.
Notes
If you want a little more heat, you can chop some extra jalapeños and mix them in or serve the dip with some sliced jalapeños for people to put on after they scoop up the dip.
