Step aside, store-bought chocolate syrup. There’s a new, decadent chocolate dip in town and I’m afraid you and I must part ways. Friends, I am so freaking excited about this chocolate dip. Because it is so knock-your-socks-off delicious AND discovering it was a happy accident. Isn’t that how the best recipes are born? I was getting frustrated when my original dessert wasn’t working out, and I was just about to throw the bowl away when I decided to grab a spoon and give my chocolately concoction a try. So I tried it. Again and again and again. I must have tried it ten times, savoring each lick from the spoon with no regard for the fact I was double dipping. And I realized something. I was having a serendipitous moment. And anytime you can have an honest-to-goodness moment like that AND have the opportunity to use the word “serendipitous” in a sentence, well…I’d consider it a definite win.
Try this Easy Homemade Chocolate Dip and you’ll see just how happy this happy accident of a recipe can make you. And guys, it is so super quick an easy to make. Use it as a dip for strawberries, cookies, pound cake, pretzels, bananas, cinnamon bears, or (if you want to go there) potato chips. Or zap the dip in your microwave for 15 seconds and drizzle it on your ice cream. Or simply settle into a steamy bath with a bowl of this rich, chocolatey, creamy dip and a big spoon.
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 2 cups (16 oz) of your favorite chocolate (I used milk chocolate chips)
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- ½ tsp vanilla extract*
- In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring cream to a simmer.
- Pour over chocolate in a medium bowl and stir until smooth.
- Stir in butter and vanilla until completely combined. Let cool to room temperature, cover, and refrigerate.
