I was so excited to post this recipe because the weather here in Utah was gorgeous. We really haven’t had a winter and this spring has been so beautifully warm. Well that sneaky Mother Nature decided to start making up for all the cold weather we missed out on. She must be PMSing.
Last week, when it was in the 70s and our girls were eating dinner outside on a picnic blanket, we made this Easy Grilled BBQ Chicken. I get all nostalgic when I think about BBQ chicken on the grill. When I was younger and we lived in Virginia, we would spend the summers at my grandma’s house in Florida. My aunt, who lived next door, would often have family cookouts in her backward overlooking the lake. And my uncle would always make grilled BBQ chicken. It was so juicy and delicious that I couldn’t just have one piece. Or two. Even when I was tiny and my stomach couldn’t hold much food (ahhhh those were the days), I filled up on my Uncle David’s BBQ chicken. I knew what was good.
That’s what I love about this recipe. It’s lip-smackin’, finger suckin’, tummy fillin’ homestyle goodness that will have you shouting YAHOO! If you think you’ve had juicy grilled chicken before, prepare to be blown away. This is so easy to make with only THREE ingredients, one of which is the oil for the grill. And the key to juicy chicken on the grill is slow and low.
This tender, juicy, delicious grilled chicken slathered with your favorite BBQ sauce will become your must-have whenever you want to fire up your grill. Get a couple packages of bone-in thighs, breasts, and/or drumsticks and you have a meal the whole family will love!
- Oil (for grill)
- 2 packages of bone-in chicken thighs, breasts, or drumsticks (any combo is fine)
- ½ to ¾ bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray's)
- Preheat grill to medium-low heat and oil the grill rack.
- Place chicken pieces on grill and grill, covered, for 20 minutes.
- Turn pieces over and grill for an additional 20 minutes.
- Baste with BBQ sauce and grill for an additional 5 minutes.
- Turn over and baste other side with sauce, and then cook for an additional 5 minutes.

This is useless you idiot. Buy bbq sauce and out it on chicken? Only 3 ingredients? This must be the worst “recipe” ive ever seen.

Sorry you feel that way, Euran. I called it “easy” for a reason. You can, of course, make your own BBQ sauce and put it on if you’d prefer to make it more difficult. Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day! 🙂
