I created this recipe for the Budweiser Sauces Ultimate Blogger Recipe Challenge; however, the opinions are mine alone.
BBQ Basted Baby Back Ribs are juicy, fall-off-the-bone ribs that will rock your BBQ. Slow-roasted with Budweiser Freedom Reserve Red Lager and basted with Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Barbecue Sauce, they’re the perfect main dish for any summer party.
What says summer more than a juicy rack of baby backs, slow roasted in the oven and then flash-grilled and brushed with your favorite BBQ sauce? That’s right. NOTHING. And no one knows that better than Budweiser. Yep—the king of beers knows a thing or two about what it takes to BBQ.
In fact, they recently launched a whole lineup of incredible sauces sure to make your BBQ lineup swoon- and drool-worthy. Like Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Barbecue Sauces that come in FIVE different flavors: Classic, Honey, Sweet & Spicy, Bold & Spicy, and Sweet & Smoky.
They also introduced Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Wing Sauces in mild and hot, Sizzlin’ Steakhouse and Buffalo Chicken Marinades, and their Steak & Burger Sauce. If that weren’t enough, they’ve also introduced a new kind of beer—the Freedom Reserve Red Lager (available for a limited time!). I used the red lager and a mixture of the Sweet & Smoky and Bold & Spicy BBQ sauces to make BBQ Basted Baby Back Ribs (a.k.a. the best baby backs known to man).
If you don’t believe they’re that good, just wait until you try these babies. They come to you care of my brother-in-law, Craig. He’s well-known for making the juiciest, most fall-off-the-bone, amazing ribs on the planet. I’m talking ribs so good they would put even the best BBQ joint to shame. They’re slow-roasted atop a wonderful mixture of beer, lemon juice, and fresh herbs for three hours and then flash-grilled to peak perfection. Then, they’re slathered with Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Barbecue Sauce.
Sounds amazing, right? Let me tell you just how easy these incredible ribs are to make. First, set your oven to 325 degrees. You’re going to want to use a roasting pan that comes with a grid rack. Pour your Budweiser Freedom Reserve Red Lager into the pan and then add enough water so that the liquid barely touches the rack.
Then, add your apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, fresh herbs, and garlic. Cut the ribs into 3 or 4-bone pieces and season them on all sides with salt and pepper. Layer them sideways on the rack and cover them tightly with foil. Roast them in the oven for 3 hours–don’t take them out too early! Three hours will give you perfectly juicy and moist ribs. You’ll notice they’re done when the meat starts to separate from the bone.
Then, set your grill to medium-high heat. Place your ribs upright onto the grill and baste the tops with your favorite Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Barbecue Sauce. Maybe use a couple different flavors to mix it up! Cook the ribs for 5 minutes. Then flip them, baste the other side with the BBQ sauce, and grill them for an additional 5 minutes. And voila! You’re ready to rock your BBQ. Make sure to serve them with extra sauce on the side so people can slather on more as needed.

- 2 full racks of baby back ribs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 bottle Budweiser Freedom Reserve Red Lager
- 6 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Juice of 2 lemons
- Fresh herbs of your choice (we recommend thyme, sage, and/or rosemary)
- 4-5 garlic cloves, halved
- 1 bottle Budweiser Brewmaster’s Premium Barbecue Sauce of your choice
- Set oven to 325 degrees.
- Place a grid rack in a roasting pan. Add beer and then enough water so that liquid barely hits the rack. Then, add apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, fresh herbs, and garlic.
- Cut the ribs into about three boned sections and season them on all sides with salt and pepper.
- Layer them sideways on the rack and cover them tightly with tinfoil. Steam in the oven for 3 hours. They are done when the meat begins to separate slightly from the bone. (Do not cook them too long; otherwise, the bone can become too soft to even handle by hand)
- Set grill to medium-high heat. Place ribs, upright, onto grill and baste tops liberally with BBQ sauce. Cook for 5 minutes. Flip ribs and baste bottoms with BBQ sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
