It’s official, friends. Christmas is just three short days away and that means Christmas Eve is just around the corner. One of my favorite traditions is our family holiday party on Christmas Eve. That’s because dinner that night consists of a full spread of appetizers. It’s a chance for me, my mom, and my sisters to share yummy new appetizers we’ve created and to bring our tried-and-true favorites.
Of course, no appetizer buffet is complete without delicious dips, so we always have salsa and hummus. But this year I wanted to come up with a new dip recipe—one that was delicious, had a little kick, and would disappear in minutes. And that’s how this Bacon Jalapeno Onion Dip was born.
This creamy dip gets its kick from jalapenos and is chock full of sweet, caramelized onions and savory, crisp bacon bits. And an insanely delicious and addicting dip like this deserves a sturdy cracker that won’t break in half when you scoop. That’s why I chose Town House Pita Crackers and got both the Mediterranean Herb and Sea Salt flavors. I bought them at my local Target, where I can find a great selection of Town House crackers and anything else I need for holiday parties and gifts.
The great thing about Town House Pita Crackers is I know they’ll hold their own against the scooping and they’re so yummy. I gave some Town House Mediterranean Herb Pita Crackers to my daughters with their lunch one day and my three-year old kept asking for more and my one-year old said, “Mmm, wike it.”
The crisp pita crackers are the perfect complement to this hearty dip, which is super easy to make and only requires a handful of ingredients.
First, sauté the onions until golden brown and nicely caramelized.
Then, cream together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and jalapeno cream cheese.
Finally, add the bacon and onions and you’re good to go. Serve the dip with some jalapenos (for those who want a little extra heat) and the Town House Pita Crackers flavor of your choice.
I guarantee this Bacon Jalapeno Onion Dip will become a fast family favorite and I can’t wait to share it with my family on Christmas Eve. There’s nothing like getting together with family and celebrating the holidays with fun traditions. What are some of your favorite traditions?
- 2 large onions, quartered and sliced thin
- 6 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 4 oz. jalapeño cream cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (reserve a bit for garnish)
- Sliced jalapeños, optional (for garnish and serving alongside)
- Town House Pita Chips flavor of your choice, for serving
- In a large fry pan over medium heat, melt butter with canola oil. Add onions, salt, and pepper and toss to coat. Saute for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat and spread onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Cool completely (I put mine in the fridge for an hour).
- When cool, chop the onions into small pieces.
- In an electric mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Add the bacon and onions. Transfer to a bowl and top with remaining bacon bits and jalapeño slices. Serve with your favorite Town House Pita Chips.

What a delicious dip! I have to admit, I always am really lazy and just store buy my dips – but if they’re as easy to make as this, I definitely have to start making them myself!
