Fire up the grill and throw these yummy Juicy Taco Burgers on—they’re everything you love in a taco in burger form!
So you know how sometimes you’re craving Mexican—but also a burger? Or is it just me? 🙂 It’s especially true now that we’ve been waiting for any excuse to fire up our grill. And what’s great about burgers is they’re so versatile. A quick glance at the Red Robin menu will prove it. There’s like a thousand kinds of burgers out there. So when I thought about how good a burger would be with guacamole on it and a little bit of a kick from Pepper Jack cheese and taco seasoning—basically, everything I loved about tacos—these Juicy Taco Burgers were born.
And quite honestly they’re some of the best homemade burgers I’ve ever made or had. F’reals. They’re perfectly juicy and so wonderfully flavorful thanks to the concoction of taco seasonings and chopped green chilies I threw in. And they’re nestled atop yummy guacamole and topped with your favorite salsa. I was in a pinch and used store-bought guac, but next time I’m totally going with this stuff. Cuz it’s WAY freaking better.
So if you’re looking for a new way to serve up tacos for Taco Tuesday or a fun mashup for Cinco de Mayo, look no further. We’ve got you covered with these Juicy Taco Burgers, my friend. Ole!
- 1 lb. ground beef (80% lean and 20% fat recommended)
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp oregano
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp chopped green chilies
- 2-4 slices Pepper Jack cheese
- Prepared guacamole
- Your favorite salsa
- Jalapeno slices (optional)
- 2-4 hamburger buns
- Combine ground beef, chili powder, cumin, salt, oregano, garlic, and green chilies in a bowl. Using hands, knead ingredients together until well incorporated.
- Set grill to medium-high.
- Divide ground beef mixture into 2 or 4 equal helpings. Shape into patties, pressing down in middle just slightly to leave a slight welt.
- Grill over medium-high heat 6 minutes per side, flipping just once (do NOT press down on patties with spatula as this will dry them out).
- Turn gas off and top each patty with a slice of Pepper Jack. Leave on grill just until cheese is melted. Remove from grill.
- Spread desired amount of guacamole on each bun bottom. Top with burger and spoon salsa on top of burger. Top with jalapeno slices if you want an extra kick.
