Every day is a gift, and here are some essential tips to help you make each and every day amazing!
It’s so great to be back, guys. The last few weeks have been crazy and it’s been hard to even get a minute to sit and write. Between being super busy, super exhausted, and super sick with a nasty cold, it’s been rough. But what the last few weeks have reminded me is how important it is to savor each day and make every day great. Because doesn’t it seem like each day runs together? Do you have trouble remembering what you did even yesterday? I definitely do.
But the best part is it doesn’t even take a lot of effort to make each day stand out. There are simple things you can do to make each day uniquely beautiful and memorable. If you read my blog earlier this year, you know I was focusing on coming up with ways to make each day fabulous. Here I share my top 50!
50 Ways to Have a Great Day
- Have a pillow fight with your kids or significant other.
- Buy a plant. If you’re like me and seriously lack the skills to keep a plant alive, try one of the plants from this list.
- Play on a swing set. Go down a slide. Climb on the monkey bars. You’re never too old.
- Write 5 things you love about your significant other or child and put it on their pillow.
- Avoid saying anything negative all day.
- Go somewhere you’ve never been—a different city, park, museum, or restaurant.
- Tickle your taste buds by trying something new. Try a different drink, order a different meal at a restaurant, or buy an ice cream flavor you’ve never tried.
- Wear your favorite outfit, stand up straight, smile at strangers, and remember that you’re freaking awesome.
- What you think about in the morning will set the tone for your day. Wake up with a goal and start your day with positive thoughts.
- Snuggle with your kids or significant other.
- Read a book for at least 30 minutes before bed.
- For 30 minutes, challenge a friend or your significant other to a vacation planning dual. At the end, share your ideas and decide together whose you like best. Start thinking about how you can go on it in the next year or two.
- Do something special and unexpected for a spouse or friend.
- Find a quote that inspires you. Write it or print it out and tape it somewhere you’ll see it every morning.
- Watch your favorite childhood cartoon on YouTube.
- Take a long, hot bubble bath (don’t skimp on the bubbles!). Relax and unwind.
- Look for a funny video on YouTube or read a funny article. Find a way to laugh one of those wonderful gut-busting laughs.
- Take a 30-minute walk and explore your neighborhood.
- Rock out to your favorite song in the shower.
- Call a friend who you know is sick or going through a hard time. Ask how you can help and let them know you love them.
- Play hide and seek with your kids or significant other.
- Do one thing to further your education, your career, or one of your goals. Consider signing up for a continuing education class or try a new class at the gym.
- Watch a sunrise or sunset.
- Dance with your significant other.
- Plan a night out with friends you haven’t seen in awhile.
- Write down 10 things you like about yourself. Add to the list often.
- Listen to peaceful music for 10 minutes before bed. Try the Relaxation Radio station on Pandora.
- Unplug. Leave your phone home. Don’t turn on your computer or TV for a whole day.
- Set your timer for 15 minutes. Declutter a spot that’s been bugging you.
- For 10 minutes, dance like no one’s watching.
- Get an ice cream cone. Make sure to get two scoops!
- Clear your mind and meditate for 15 minutes before bed.
- Pull out the tape and make funny faces in front of the mirror.
- People are amazing. Go to a cafe or mall and just people watch.
- Watch a Ted talk or read an inspiring article.
- Work out for at least 7 minutes. Try the NY Times 7-minute workout or just run outside for 7 minutes!
- Simplify. Get rid of 3 items from your kitchen, closet, or office that you don’t need or use anymore.
- Embrace and kiss your significant other like you won’t see them for a year.
- Make tonight movie night. Pop some popcorn, buy some $1 candy from Target, get cozy on the couch, and rent a movie or find one on TV.
- Watch cheesy 80s music videos on YouTube.
- Go to MyBirthdayFacts.com and find out what happened on the day you were born. Rent the movie that was the top movie on that day and listen to the top song.
- Go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual.
- Play a board game with your family or friends.
- Take a different way to work, the store, or the gym.
- Go outside, breathe in the fresh air, and focus on all 5 senses.
- Wear a unique accessory, like a fun necklace, tie, or pair of shoes.
- Smile at everyone, smile at no one. Just smile.
- Listen to a different kind of music than you’re used to. Try classical or jazz.
- Do yoga for 10 minutes before you start your day. Not sure how? There are tons of free apps to guide you along.
- Call a parent, sibling, or close friend. Tell them what they mean to you and how they’ve blessed your life.
